The Swan Business Center, the newest gem on St. Bonaventure's architecturally rich campus, opened for the start of fall semester 2013, just 18 months after ground was broken on this state-of-the-art business center.
The two-story building, with its unique glass-walled atrium and signature Bonaventure tile roof, gives students in the School of Business access to state-of-the-art technology and amenities that cater to the school's personalized, collaborative approach to business education.
In addition to housing School of Business faculty offices, the Swan Center offers:
a financial services lab with electronic ticker tape
a corporate boardroom simulator
break-out areas for student-faculty collaboration and team building
space for faculty research
innovative technology including Bloomberg terminals, the gold-standard source of information for monitoring and analyzing real-time financial market data.
In keeping with the university's Franciscan heritage, the building incorporates sustainable design elements and other environmentally friendly features.
The building is named for Ann L. Swan, a former teacher and active civic leader in Western New York, and her late husband, William E. Swan, a 1969 graduate of St. Bonaventure, a former chair of the university's Board of Trustees, and longtime Western New York business leader and philanthropist.
Ann Swan gave $3 million to the building campaign as a means of honoring her late husband's love for his alma mater.
The $15 million School of Business Campaign included $10 million for the construction of the business center; $4 million in endowments for faculty and programmatic support; and $1 million in endowment for building sustainability.
