This course is a survey of the history, approaches, current trends and practical applications of teaching-learning theories of literacy instruction. Areas such as comprehension instructional programs, materials and instruction, and skill development are considered. Concepts of literacy from emergent literacy to developmental literacy to advanced literacy are examined.
