All awards are available for four years to students who maintain full-time undergraduate status and the required cumulative grade point average for renewal each year. St. Bonaventure University’s merit-based awards are awarded on the basis of your three year cumulative high school average (freshman through junior year) and SAT or ACT scores. The best combined effort of the Critical Reading (previously called Verbal) and Math portions of the SAT, or the ACT score, whichever is higher, will be used for award consideration for freshmen.

| St. Bonaventure Presidential Scholarships |
Students with exceptional academic credentials will receive our most prestigious academic award: the St. Bonaventure Presidential Scholarship. To qualify, a student must have a minimum high school average of 95 and a combined SAT of at least 1300 (or 29 ACT).
The award amount is $18,000 ($13,500 St. Bonaventure Presidential Scholarship/$4,500 St. Bonaventure Presidential Resident Scholarship – students must reside in campus housing with housing charges to receive the “resident” component of the scholarship). It is renewable annually, in the same amount, provided that a 3.25 or better cumulative grade point average is maintained. back to list |
| Friars Scholarships |
In keeping with the goals of Franciscan education, the friars of St Bonaventure University offer scholarships through the contributed services of the friars. This scholarship fund recognizes academically gifted freshmen. A student must have a 90 high school average and a 1150 or better combined SAT (or 25 ACT).
The award amount is $15,000 ($11,300 Friars Scholarship/$3,700 Friars Resident Scholarship – students must reside in campus housing with housing charges to receive the “resident” component of the scholarship). It is renewable annually, in the same amount, provided that a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average is maintained. back to list |
| St. Bonaventure Merit Awards |
These awards are available to entering freshmen with high academic achievement. A student must have a 87 high school average and a 1100 or better combined SAT (or 24 ACT).
The award amount is $13,000 ($9,800 St Bonaventure Merit Award/$3,200 St Bonaventure Merit Resident Award - students must reside in campus housing with housing charges to receive the “resident” component of the award). It is renewable annually, in the same amount, provided that a 2.75 or better cumulative grade point average is maintained. back to list

| St. Bona Achievement Grants |
These grants are available to entering freshmen with commendable academic achievement. A student must have a 81 high school average and a 1000 or better combined SAT (or 21 ACT).
The award amounts range from $10,000 to $11,500. Students must reside in campus housing with housing charges to receive the “resident” component of the grant. It is renewable annually, in the same amount, provided that a 2.5 or better cumulative grade point average is maintained. back to list |
| St. Bonaventure Enchanted Mountain Scholarship |
This scholarship is available for first-time freshmen who graduate from a high school in one of the following counties: Potter (PA), McKean (PA), Cattaraugus (NY), or Allegany (NY). A student must have at least an 84 high school average and a 1050 or better combined SAT (or 23 ACT).
The award amount is $12,500. It is renewable annually, in the same amount, provided that a 2.5 or better cumulative grade point average is maintained. back to list |
| St. Bonaventure Chautauqua County Scholarship |
This scholarship is available for first-time freshmen students who graduate from a high school in Chautauqua County (NY). A student must have at least an 84 high school average and a 1050 or better combined SAT (or 23 ACT).
The award amount is $12,500 ($9,300 SBU Chautauqua County Scholarship/$3,200 SBU Chautauqua County Resident Scholarship – students must reside in campus housing with housing charges to receive the “resident” component of the scholarship). | St. Bonaventure Warren County Scholarship |
This scholarship is available to first-time freshmen students who graduate from a high school in Warren County (PA). A student must have at least an 84 high school average and a 1050 or better combined SAT (or 23 ACT).

| St. Bonaventure Buckeye Award |
This award is available for first-time freshmen who graduate from a high school in Ohio. This award is in addition to any other academic award received.
The award amount will be $2,500 and is renewable annually, in the same amount, provided that a 2.0 or better cumulative grade point average is maintained. back to list |
| Geographic Diversity Award |
An award will be given to all students who graduate from a high school outside of New York State except those who graduate from high schools in Ohio (those students already receive the Buckeye Award and do not qualify for the Geographic Diversity award). This award is in addition to any other academic award received.
The award amount will be $2,500 and is renewable annually, in the same amount, provided that a 2.0 or better cumulative grade point average is maintained. |
| Sibling Grant |
The St. Bonaventure University Sibling Grant is available to students if two or more siblings from the same immediate family are concurrently registered as full-time undergraduate students in the same semester. The grant is for $250 per semester of concurrent enrollment (or $500 max per student per year). This grant does not apply to graduate students. This grant is not applicable if a student is receiving a grant, scholarship or award that covers full tuition. back to list |

All freshman awards require full-time attendance. Generally, a student can not receive a freshman award from more than one of the categories listed above. Students who receive ROTC, Tuition Exchange, or Tuition remission do not qualify for these awards. Athletics scholarships will also affect the merit, Buckeye, and Geographic Diversity awards available to student-athletes.back to list |
