Artist and 2006 alumna Jess! Pfohl will return to St. Bonaventure University in March to exhibit her commercial artwork, give a gallery talk, and create new work on the spot.
The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts Front Gallery will showcase 30 paintings in the exhibition “Watercolor and Inks,” which opens Sunday, March 18. The 30 hand-chosen works are the most successful pieces from a collection of 300 watercolor and ink illustrations created in 2016 that are professionally represented and licensed in the gift and home décor industry.
The public is invited to a gallery talk at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in the art center. Pfohl will share her experiences of working in the professional art, design, marketing and entertainment industries.
Throughout the day on March 20 through 22, Pfohl will draw and paint live in the Quick Center’s atrium, hoping to engage students and visitors. She will take their suggestions for the theme and invite them back to see the completed work on the 22nd.
Pfohl graduated from St. Bonaventure in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication and a minor in marketing. She played Division 1 women’s lacrosse from 2002 to 2004, representing Bona’s in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Pfohl was also an active DJ on campus radio station WSBU-FM 88.3 The Buzz, hosting a prime-time slot and earning a nomination for DJ of the Semester in 2002.
Pfohl has worked with many artists through a wide range of mediums, including film, photography, textile and music. She was endorsed by Campbell’s Soup in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans. And, in September 2016, she headlined the Music is Art Festival in Buffalo supporting the Goo Goo Dolls with her visual art installation gallery, Sexposé.
Pfohl has works permanently installed at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, E-Villa in Atlanta, and The Alchemy of Art in Baltimore. Her latest collection of works, “Watercolor and Inks,” is licensed for design in the gift and home décor industry with products developed by the artist available in retail locations throughout the United States.
