Venues Beyond SBU

Abby Cohen ’08, Dr. Walker & Keely Sibbald ’09 presented their psychology research at the 2008 national APS meeting

In addition to the showcases for research at St. Bonaventure, there are numerous venues beyond the borders of our university.

Each discipline has professional organizations that hold regional or national conferences, which are attended by undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. A conference participant can present their own research or simply learn about the work of others. With talks, poster sessions, and social events, a conference is a wonderful experience.

Each discipline also has its own professional journals. Typically, professional journals are peer-reviewed and accept a fraction of the articles submitted to them. The research of a student and faculty mentor may be published in such a journal.

The acceptance of one's work for presentation at a conference or publication in a journal is an exceptional accomplishment for an

undergraduate. Nevertheless, numerous St. Bonaventure students have achieved these impressive feats.

For specific information about conferences and journals in your area of interest, contact the faculty in the appropriate department. Some of the departmental pages listed in Departmental Research include details about conferences and journals.
