Program Director

Hello, and thank you for your interest in the master's program in Strategic Leadership at St. Bonaventure University. As director of the program, I welcome your interest in continued professional development, and I am pleased that you are considering pursuing a degree at St. Bonaventure.

I have taught in psychology and business for more than 20 years. In those years, I have found that the leadership program at St. Bonaventure brings an unsurpassed depth of experience and knowledge to train students to compete in the global marketplace.

We have carefully designed a graduate program that addresses the important business issues of today, such as global leadership and how to lead in the digital age. We recognize that leadership is more than just a degree; it is about helping students develop their own unique leadership skills and abilities to best meet their career goals and objectives.

Why Study Leadership?

The Corporate Leadership Council’s (CLC) report, "Building the High Performance Workforce" identified leadership training and development as a key indicator that leads to performance increases of more than 25%.

Most experts agree that there will be a critical shortage of middle and top leaders in the next few years due to the retirement of baby boomers. Organizations that understand the immediacy of this radical shift in the employee base and carefully develop new management will be best suited to handle the rise of complex challenges.

Organizations will need to create pools of candidates with high leadership potential, which creates new market demand for leadership development programs, says the Center for Creative Leadership.

As globalization increases, organizations are continually asked to bridge cultural, geographical and functional boundaries effectively and efficiently. A new term used in the industry is the “Virtual Leader” to reflect today’s growing technology trends.

The Center for Creative Leadership also points out that when top executives were asked to choose one skill that is central to effective virtual leadership, 70% said communication skills.

Our program develops students into tomorrow’s leaders through personalized coaching and mentoring, a hallmark of our program; and through executive development in decision making, problem solving, managing human resources, conflict resolution, and strategic thinking.

Plus, our program allows flexibility with online courses that fit around your busy schedule.

Emerging from one of the oldest and most respected leadership programs in the region, Strategic Leadership offers a high caliber faculty and business mentors, and our small class sizes mean you will establish positive ties with your leadership classmates and professors.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance or to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
