News Staff Reporter, The Buffalo News, Buffalo, N.Y.
The professors of the Jandoli School imparted their real-world wisdom to me each day. They showed me how to gather, analyze and present information to the public – and how to do it in an ethical manner.
They also taught me that telling stories is about people, and the ability to understand and communicate with people is the basis for gaining their trust.
The timeless foundations of great reporting, writing and fairness – as well as the people skills honed in the classroom, The Bona Venture newsroom and around campus – helped me secure internships with the Buffalo Bills, NBC’s “Meet the Press” and a reporting position with The Buffalo News.
When I walked into that newsroom, I was prepared – because of St. Bonaventure.

Reporter/Producer, WROC-TV News 8, Rochester, N.Y.
I started applying for broadcasting jobs before I graduated from St. Bonaventure. After graduation, I was interviewed by WICZ-TV in Binghamton, N.Y., where I was hired as a one-man-band reporter, shooting, producing, editing and reporting my own stories.
I wouldn’t have had the skills to get that job if it weren’t for the hands-on training at St. Bonaventure, particularly through SBU-TV and the resources available in the Koop Broadcasting Lab.
Thanks to the Jandoli School’s broadcasting curriculum and its emphasis on internships, within months I landed my current job where I had completed a previous internship – in my hometown of Rochester, N.Y. at WROC-TV – and filled a very competitive position in a larger market.
The Jandoli school programs and faculty have prepared me well to continue to be competitive and successful in my field.

News Editor, Country Courier, Warsaw, N.Y.
The alumni connection and networking opportunities are strong at Bonaventure. I landed my first job while I was still a senior and an alumnus connected me with the editor of my hometown paper, the Country Courier.
I couldn’t have asked for better preparation than a Jandoli School education for my job at the Courier. I learned how to write and report clearly and concisely, and with those skills, you can tackle anything.
Between my internships writing for The Leader in Fort Knox, Ky., and The Buffalo News, my experience writing and editing for The Bona Venture, and the expertise offered by the Jandoli School professors, entering the professional journalism world as an editor with competence and confidence was an easy step.
