The School of Graduate Studies at St. Bonaventure University offers a limited number of assistantship grants for the academic year. These awards are distributed among full-time students of the departments having graduate programs at St. Bonaventure's main campus in Olean and at its Buffalo Center on the Hilbert College campus in Hamburg. There are more internship opportunities in Olean than at our Buffalo Center location.
If you're interested, you may apply for an assistantship when you submit your application for admission or at any time during your full-time study at the University. Please contact the graduate dean's office at (716) 375-2394 with questions. Applications should be submitted to Ms. Lori Yardman Office of Graduate Studies; Hopkins Hall 223A; St. Bonaventure University; St. Bonaventure, NY 14778. They can also be faxed to 716-375-7834. If you have a current resume, please submit a copy of that with the application.
Assistantship Benefits
Full-time assistantships provide a tuition scholarship of up to nine credit hours per semester.
Note that assistantships do not provide health insurance or other SBU staff benefits.
In general, graduate assistants should not take on outside employment, as the assistantship involves a service requirement (specified by each department). Full-time graduate assistants normally carry a nine-credit-hour courseload per semester.
Graduate assistantships will generally not be awarded to students completing a master's degree through the University's 5-year accounting/MBA dual degree program.
