 This is a school administrator certification program only. It is for elementary and secondary teachers or counselors seeking positions as school administrators at some time in their careers.
The 24-credit School Building Leader (SBL) program provides students with extended research-based knowledge in areas such as leadership, school and community relations, curriculum development, supervision, school finance and school law.
Note that by taking 6 additional hours beyond the 24-hour SBL curriculum, students may earn the MSED in Educational Leadership.
School District Leader (SDL)
The SDL Advanced
Certificate program is designed for candidates seeking to become administrators
at the district level (superintendents). This 12-hour program includes
coursework in negotiations, superintendency, and central office leadership. NY
SDL certification requires these 12 hours and 60 total graduate credits.
