Chapter Activities
Field trips are generally taken in the fall to explore local companies that are active in their marketing campaigns. In the past, students have been able to gain valuable insight into marketing strategies by the Zippo lighter factory, in Bradford, Pa., and Wilcox Winery, in Wilcox, Pa.
In the spring, AMA, along with other business clubs, takes a major trip to cities where SBU alumni have begun their marketing careers. On these trips, students have an opportunity to network with alumni and observe a marketer’s life on a larger scale. Past trips include Washington, D.C., New York City, Boston and Chicago.
Members also have the opportunity to create and execute fundraisers in order to fund their larger trips. Over the past three years, students designed and sold T-shirts. Every year, students also meet to create funding for Bonagany, an annual event in the village of Allegany.
