What are the benefits of joining Psi Chi?
Psi Chi serves two major goals. The first of these goals is the Society’s obligation to provide academic recognition to its inductees by the mere fact of membership. In addition, the national organization attempts to nourish and stimulate professional growth through programs designed to enhance the regular curriculum and to provide practical experience and fellowship to its members.
The benefits of Psi Chi are not only intrinsically rewarding but also provide solid reference opportunities, networking opportunites, resume building and an introduction into the professional world of psychology. Each member receives a

membership certificate and card providing tangible evidence of membership. The national Psi Chi office further adds to these benefits by providing its members opportunities for research grants and awards, yearly conventions and conferences that are only open to Psi Chi members, as well as graduate school scholarships and grants.
Psi Chi membership is lifelong and the national registration fee of $45 is the only payment ever made to the national office.

What types of activities do members of the Saint Bonaventure chapter of Psi Chi participate in?
The Saint Bonaventure chapter of Psi Chi participates in activities in and around the community. Our main purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.
In the past, we have invited expert psychologists to give guest speeches on their particular areas of interest, allowing students to become better acquainted with the broad field of psychology. We have also designed and conducted our own research projects, taken tours of psychiatric wards at local mental health clinics, and presented original research at national conferences. Psi Chi also holds seminars for upperclassmen interested in furthering their studies in a graduate program so that they may become familiar with the necessary processes of graduate school application and admission. Psi Chi also provides volunteer work in and around the Olean-Allegany, New York area at such places as The Warming House, the local food kitchen. Members of the chapter are greatly encouraged to become active in all Psi Chi functions including meetings, fundraisers, and group socials.
The St. Bonaventure chapter of Psi Chi has been nationally chartered since 1967 and continues with the same enthusiasm that the original members began with 40 years ago!
Who do I contact to join?
