The plan of study below emphasizes biology and chemistry through the order in which courses are taken. (The biology and chemistry courses are taken somewhat earlier than in the plan of study with an empahasis on mathematics and computer science.) Further emphasis may be achieved by selecting the two bioinformatics electives from among the biology and/or chemistry offerings. Changes in the sequence of the following plan of study may be desirable. These must be made in consultation with the student’s academic adviser.
To see the title of a course in the plan of study, simply pass the cursor over the course's number. To see an overview of a course, click on its number. Consult the Biology Course Descriptions, Computer Science Course Descriptions, or Mathematics Course Descriptions for a list of all biology courses, all computer science courses, or all mathematics courses, respectively.
* The School of Arts and Sciences requires all majors to complete a foreign language course at the 202 level or higher. Students not prepared to begin at this level will need to take additional courses in the language, which count as general electives.
** The two bioinformatics electives are chosen from BIO 321, BIO 390, CHEM 302 with or without the lab CHML 302, CHEM 401 with or without the lab CHML 401, CHEM 470, CS 243, CS 332, MATH 241, and MATH 431.
