I worked in rehabilitation counseling for 10 years. I was sidelined by severe health issues. This has not completely stopped me. I have been doing what I am able to help others. I am not able to do much physically, but I can still help friends, family and even strangers sometimes.

I am helping a cousin by proofreading her papers for college. I help my partner's daughter to get around as she doesn't drive. In return, she helps me with some of the physical things I can't do.

pursuing helping others
I have helped people waiting at the social services offices while I was waiting for my appointments. I would suggest other places they could get help. As a counselor, I was a "gatherer" of resources that assisted people with and without disabilities. I love helping others — even if I am not able to work in my chosen field anymore.

Thanks to St. Bonaventure and its Franciscan tradition, I know I can pursue my passion even if I can't work.

I am a Secular Franciscan. My roots at Bona's and as a secular began there. Bona's has had a profound effect on my life.
