I took a step after graduation and moved from Rochester, N.Y., to the Maryland/D.C. area. I was fortunate to be hired by the federal government starting in information management positions and for 14 years in government privacy policy.
I found my positions at the IRS and Department of the Interior very challenging as new government privacy laws and policies were mushrooming.
I was the Privacy lead for the Department of the Interior for nine years and received a lot of satisfaction providing explanations and policy for laws that helped government employees and members of the public, and being part of developing governmentwide and industry standards in privacy protection.
I love the D.C. area and all the wonderful museums and cathedrals available as well as access to nearby waterways and the mountains. I currently have my International Association of Privacy Professional certification, am retired from the federal government after 32 years, and contract out my services as a privacy consultant.
