School Building Leader (SBL)
MSED in Educational Leadership (includes the SBL)
School District Leader (SDL)
NOTE: You may request recommendations, transcripts, and other required materials before you formally apply. Any items that arrive at St. Bonaventure prior to your application will be placed in your file pending receipt of the application. Note that a 3.00 GPA is the working standard for admission to the Educational Leadership programs.
These should describe your suitability for graduate study, your academic ability, your professional work, etc. Typically, recommendations come from professors, supervisors, professional peers or community leaders - for educational leadership programs at least one of your recommendations must come from a supervising principal or superintendent. We provide the School of Graduate Studies Recommendation Form for your convenience; it is not required that your endorsers use this form.
Important note for students moving directly from one SBU Educational Leadership program to another (e.g., SBL to SDL): You do need to submit an application for the new credential/program, but you do not need to submit new transcripts, writing sample, recommendations, etc. unless specifically asked to do so by the program director or graduate admissions office.
Please note that you may see the Educational Leadership programs listed as Buffalo-based in some paperwork from SBU. This designation is for our reporting purposes. The program is hybrid in format and in person classes alternate between our Buffalo and Olean locations.
