Yellow Ribbon Program

veterans group

St. Bonaventure is a Yellow Ribbon school, helping post-9/11 veterans, or their dependents, attend SBU tuition free through the GI Education Enhancement Programs. The Yellow Ribbon Program can help you pay for higher out-of-state, private school, or graduate school tuition that the Post-9/11 GI Bill® doesn’t cover.

To be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon program, the service member, reservist/guardsman or veteran must have 100 percent eligibility under the provisions of Chapter 33 Post-9/11 GI Bill®, including:

  • having been honorably discharged after serving at least 36 months of active duty after Sept. 10, 2001. (If you served on active duty for less than three years post 9/11, reduced benefits are still available.)
  • having been honorably discharged from active duty for a service-related disability after serving at least 90 continuous days after Sept. 10, 2001.
