Kingston University is housed on four separate campuses close to the center of the Royal Borough of Kingston in Greater London. All campuses are within easy reach of one another and are connected by a free bus service. The main campus on Penrhyn Road is a 20 minute train ride from the center of London.
The town is a mixture of old and new with a daily open air market as well as chain stores, supermarkets, a shopping mall, night clubs, discos, and multiscreen cinemas. The proximity to London, with its cultural diversity and variety of services, is coupled with easy access to Richmond Park, Kew Gardens, Wimbledon, and Windsor.
All students take the course "British Culture and Society." Designed to provide an understanding and appreciation of contemporary culture and society, the course combines lectures and seminars with excursions and tours led by Kingston faculty. In addition to the required course, students pick three or four electives from five of the Faculties at the University. The faculties available to students on the program are: human sciences (humanities and social sciences), science technology (engineering and computer sciences), design, and business.
Students are provided with housing in the Kingston community. While at Kingston, students are automatically granted membership in the Student Union (SU), which plays and important role in promoting and developing students' interests.
There are many pubs, restaurants, and shops in Kingston's town centre, and the Commercial Services of the SU include four bars and the venues for a wide range of entertainment, two stationery shops, and a travel service. At the university, sport clubs compete on both the intramural and intercollegiate basis in rugby, soccer, cricket, rowing, and swimming. A fully-equipped Fitness Centre at Penrhyn Road has cardio-vascular equipment, weight training machines, and aerobic studios.
At Edge Hill College, you can get the "best of both worlds." The picturesque setting northwest of England is removed from urban noise and distractions, yet is only a short distance from seaside towns or the city lights of Liverpool and Manchester. The location is also superb for travel in England and the UK -- London and the southeast, the Lake District, Wales, and Scotland -- and the rest of Europe.
The attractive 45-acre campus is situated on the edge of the historic market town of Ormskirk. This busy town retains the friendly atmosphere characteristic of rural England. In addition to its twice weekly market, Ormskirk boasts an interesting array of shops, restaurants, and pubs.
An associated college of the University of Lancaster, Edge Hill offers a curriculum that includes subjects such as: art and design, communication and information media, drama, English, history, mathematics, modern European cultural studies, organization and management studies, science, women's studies, sociology, and psychology.

Housing is arranged in campus residence halls and students receive twelve meals per week in the college's refectory. In addition, there is a cafe and snack bar on campus for light meals.
Edge Hill offers a variety of support systems to make certain that the study abroad experience is rewarding. Students may utilize academic advising, personal counseling and basic medical services. A new Learning Resource Center has a state-of-the-art library with fully networked computers and internet access.
