Copenhagen is a vibrant European metropolis, yet it has small town feel where you can meet friends at a cafe. Copenhagen has a low crime rate and 24-hour-a-day public bus system. Copenhagen is connected to Sweden by a 10-mila bridge and it takes only half day to travel to Berlin. the DIS program is located in the very center of medieval Copenhagen, in a beautifully restored builing from 1798. The DIS center includes a library, student lounges, computer labs, student advising and information services, architecture studios, and a few classrooms. DIS is affiliated witht he University of Copenhagen and most classes are held in classrooms located nearby.
Courses at DIS are taught in English by Danish professors. DIS offers intellectually challenging academic programs in Humanities and Social Sciences, Politics of the European Union, International Business and Economics, Architecture and Desing, Child Development and Diversity, Marine Biology and Ecology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Medical Practice and Policy. Students take required core courses (if any) in their academic program and participate in program-realted study tours. Beyond these requirements studnets are free to select any combination of courses across the vairous programs. Students take five 3-credit courses per semester for a total of 15 semester hours of credit. Junior or Senior standing, 3.0 GPA, official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose are necessary for admission to the program. All students must be enrolled at CCIS memeber institutions.
Program participants may choose to live with a Danish family or in an European-type student residence hall (Kollegium) with Danish and other international students. Meals are provided to students who live with a Danish family, but students at Kollegiummust prepare their own meals. Students particpate in course-integrated field studies and may conduct an optional comparative field project or take an optional Bornholm bicycle trip.
