ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — St. Bonaventure University’s 153nd Commencement2013 Tassel Exercises will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 12, at the Reilly Center Arena.

Patricia Hampl, a distinguished writer and educator, will deliver the keynote address. Hampl, Regents Professor and McKnight Distinguished Professor at the University of Minnesota and a celebrated memoirist and essayist, is one of four people receiving honorary degrees at Commencement. Also being honored are Eugene M. McQuade, chief executive officer of Citibank and a 1971 graduate of St. Bonaventure; Daria L. Foster, managing partner of the investment management firm Lord Abbett & Co.; and Cynthia Ann Zane, president of Hilbert College.

The student speaker for Commencement is Christel Mendez from the Bronx, N.Y., a candidate for a BBA in management.

Commencement Exercises conclude a weekend of activities for St. Bonaventure graduates.

The annual Candlelight Induction Ceremony, when degree candidates are welcomed into the St. Bonaventure Alumni Association, will be held at 8:45 p.m. Friday in front of De La Roche Hall on campus.

Saturday’s events include the commissioning of ROTC cadets as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, which takes place at 10 a.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts; an Honors Award Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. in the Reilly Center Arena; and the Baccalaureate Mass at 4:30 p.m., also in the Reilly Center Arena.
