The minor in secondary education establishes eight teacher preparation pathways for students who want to prepare for secondary teacher certification at the undergraduate level.
It prepares students to be secondary teachers (grades 7-12) in New York state in biology, chemistry, English, French, mathematics, physics, social studies and Spanish.
St. Bonaventure will recommend for certification students who:
Students enrolled in the minor in secondary education are required to complete the field experience requirements for all required courses. This includes hours of observation/tutoring, Field Block Experience, and student teaching. Student teaching consists of two seven-week placements in their subject area, one in grades 7-9 and the other in grades 10-12.
