One or two students are accepted each year. Transfer students are not eligible for this program.
The student must major in biology, and also must complete 100 hours of dental clinical exposure while at SBU. Satisfactory performance on the DAT is also required. The DAT is taken in the fall of the last year at SBU.
After you are accepted by SBU and nominated for the program, a separate online application must be completed with the UB School of Dental Medicine. Official high school transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, and letters of recommendation need to be supplied again directly to UB School of Dental Medicine as part of that application.
Qualified applicants will be interviewed at SBU by invitation in January and February. A second interview is conducted at UB by invitation in late March to early April. Decisions on acceptance are made by May 1.
The Common Application is preferred for this combined degree program.
