DO I NEED A TICKET FOR COMMENCEMENT?
No, family members and friends of our graduates do not need a ticket for admission to Commencement. Guests are seated on a first-come, first-served basis in the arena's upper-level red seats and in designated areas of the lower-level blue seats. The arena opens at 8:30 a.m.
AT WHAT TIME SHOULD I BE SEATED?
The procession of dignitaries, faculty and students into the Reilly Center Arena begins at 10:15 a.m. sharp. Guests are expected to be at their seats, seated or standing, when the procession begins.
IS THERE HANDICAPPED SEATING?
Yes, in an area on the floor of the arena. To request seating in that area, CLICK HERE.
WHAT AM I ALLOWED TO BRING INTO THE ARENA?
To ensure a safe and family friendly environment, Campus Security has a list of prohibited and permissible items. LEARN MORE.
WHO ORDERS MY GRADUATE'S CAP & GOWN?
These are preordered for graduates and are available for payment and pick-up at the University Bookstore starting May 4. See details under "Academic Garb" on the Guide for the Graduating Student site.
CAN I ATTEND THE CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY & BACCALAUREATE?
Yes. Parents and family members are most welcome at Friday evening's Candlelight Induction Ceremony, when graduates are welcomed into the SBU alumni family, and Saturday's Baccalaureate Mass, which is open to students and families of all faiths. No ticket is required for these events.

WHERE DO I PARK?
Campus lots fill up fast, particularly on Commencement Sunday. Overflow vehicles park on the shoulder of campus roads. Later-arriving guests may have a 5-10 minute walk across campus.
IS THERE HANDICAPPED PARKING?
Yes, next to the Reilly Center Arena. You must request permission to park there. LEARN MORE.
ARE THERE PLACES TO EAT ON CAMPUS?
Yes, the Reilly Center Café (inside the Reilly Center) and Café La Verna (adjacent to Hickey Dining Hall, a short walk from the RC) will be open as follows:
CAN I TAKE PHOTOS IN THE RC, AND HOW CLOSE CAN I GET?
Yes, you may take photos during the ceremony, but you will not have access to the arena floor, where the graduates are seated and where the stage is situated. A long lens is advisable. Guests seated in the upper-level red seats are not permitted to take photos from the upper level's main walkway, which overlooks the basketball court below. For the safety of all, security will keep this walkway clear.
CAN I GET A PHOTO OF MY GRADUATE RECEIVING HIS/HER DIPLOMA?
Yes. GradImages is the official photographer for Commencement. A professional photographer will take individual pictures of each graduate receiving his or her diploma. Each graduate will receive a free passport-sized digital proof of this photograph on an order card following the ceremony, along with instructions on how to order photos. Graduates may register their contact information in advance so as to speed up the electronic delivery of proofs and to allow family members and friends to view and order them as well. CAN I BUY FLOWERS FOR MY GRADUATE?
Yes. Commencement Flowers provides freshly cut flowers in the Reilly Center on Commencement Sunday. To ensure you get flowers for your grad, you may order flowers in advance and they will be waiting for you at the RC. GradImages, the world's largest commencement photography business, will photograph every student as he or she is individually recognized. Proofs will be available after the ceremony and prints may be ordered online. Graduates may register in advance at www.gradimages.com/preregistration.
