PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Dr. Carol B. Wittmeyer teaches family business management as well as corporate and nonprofit strategy at the graduate and undergraduate levels at St. Bonaventure University where she also advises the St. Bonaventure University Family Business Club.

She serves as Chair of the Family Business Special Interest Group of the Academy of Business Disciplines as well as the USASBE (United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship), the largest independent, professional, academic organization in the world dedicated to advancing the discipline of entrepreneurship. 

She served as president of the Raymond Family Business Institute, a foundation dedicated to promoting and serving family business owners. Along with colleagues from the Kauffman Foundation, London Business School, Babson College, and Kennesaw University, she coauthored international and national research projects including the family business research in the 2003 Global Entrepreneur Monitor and the 2003 American Family Business Survey, the most widely cited research on family business. 

She has presented research on family business at international meetings of the Family Business Network, the Family Firm Institute and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals; and nationally at the United States of Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship and the Academy of Business Disciplines.

She was a visiting fellow at Babson College and the University of Rochester where she taught a case study doctoral seminar.

Her alma maters include St. Bonaventure University for her BBA and MBA and the University of Rochester for her Ed.D. She has earned certificates from Harvard University (Program on Negotiations and Management Development Program), and Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania (Strategic Thinking and Management for Competitive Advantage).

Dr. Wittmeyer participated in the MBA 646 "International Business - China Studies" course held in Shanghai, Xi'an, and Beijing, China during May 2011.

Dr. Wittmeyer was as a senior level university relations administrator at several universities. She has managed capital campaigns totaling over $100 million primarily to support business, engineering and liberal arts programs and facilities. She was the founder of the Meliora Group LLC, a fund-raising consulting group providing services to clients including George Washington Medical School, University of South Florida, Penn State University and the University of Michigan.

She is the president of Dignity Gifts, a company she started w/ her daughter and SBU students to manufacture products for nursing home patients. She has prior business experience at Goldome and Erie Savings bank along with a regional accounting firm.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Awards

  • The St. Bonaventure team won the 2015 Most Creative & Innovative Team Award at the Global Family Business Plan Competition held at the University of Vermont.
  • 2001 recipient of Buffalo’s Business First 40 Under 40 Award, received at the Buffalo Convention Center.
