UNIVERSIDAD SAN IGNACIO DE LOYOLA
Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) is a modern campus located in the La Molina district of Lima, Peru and has a student body of over 10,000 students. Spacious classrooms, laboratories, a library, Student Center, cafeteria and an on-campus restaurant all serve to complement the students’ academic program. USIL has a dynamic student population because it hosts international students from more than 90 universities throughout the world. Students may enroll in any of the 22 academic programs USIL offers, which are taught on the Lima campus both in Spanish and English. The program offers students the opportunity to advance their studies, exchange knowledge with professors and local students, gain international experience, and visit a country with many tourist attractions and exquisite cuisine.
Lima has a population of over 8 million people and welcomes visitors from all over the world. In the historical center of the city, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, splendid samples of colonial architecture and beautiful carved balconies can be seen. There are archaeological sites throughout the city as well as on the outskirts of Lima.
Academic Program Highlights
Students may enroll in any of the academic programs offered on the Lima campus, which may include courses in subjects such as Hospitality/Tourism Management, Marketing, Business, Economics, International Business, International Relations, Communications, Culinary Arts and more. Classes may be taken in Spanish or English from March through July and from August through December. Students who wish to enroll in classes instructed in Spanish must be at a high Intermediate/Advanced level of proficiency. Classes have a small number of students, which make them more personalized and interactive. Students will enroll in classes alongside Peruvian students and other international students, making the class a dynamic setting to learn more about Peruvian culture.
Each course is three credits and students are encouraged to enroll in 12 to 15 credits each semester. In order to be eligible to apply, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and obtain two academic letters of recommendation.
Student Life
Students live in shared, furnished rooms at La Casa Don Ignacio, a student residence conveniently located in the exclusive Miraflores neighborhood of Lima, where shops, restaurants, and tourist places are about thirty minutes from the university (www.casadedonignacio.com). The housing includes amenities such as TV, wireless internet, a common room and shared kitchen on each floor, laundry room, and 24-hour, on-site security. The bedrooms and commons areas are fully equipped to allow students to have a complete university experience. La Casa Don Ignacio offers students the opportunity to meet other students from all over the world.
