SFS528 - Pre-Franciscan Religious Movements

Description:

This course examines the historical development of various religious movements and currents of the 11th and 12th centuries which form the background for the emergence of the Franciscan phenomenon in the early 13th century. Particular attention will be given to the appearance of western eremitism, the renewal of monasticism, the reform of priestly life and the emergence of a distinctive lay spirituality.
