Sustainability Commission committee responsibilities

The following subcommittees have been created within the St. Bonaventure University Sustainability Coordinating Committee.
 
 

Education for Sustainable Development Subcommittee

This committee reviews curricular initiatives that will:

1. Instill in students the importance of concern for sustainable development in the environment, society and economy
2. Teach students personal responsibility in regards to consideration for sustainability
3. Educate students on specific sustainability issues within traditional academic discipline

 

Go-Green Practices Subcommittee

This committee identifies, proposes and communicates practical measures members of the university community can take to promote sustainability on campus.

 

Student Co-Curricular Subcommittee

This committee creates and implements sustainability programs for the campus community in collaboration with student clubs and other campus organizations. The programming will be driven by the student learning outcomes, from ACPA-Student Educators International.

 

Sustainability Resource Development Subcommittee

This committee explores opportunities for external funding to support the university's sustainability efforts.

 

Sustainable University Standards and Policies Subcommittee

This committee is responsible for development, oversight and communication of university policies and standards intended to promote sustainability. It receives assignments whenever the coordinating committee determines initiatives under discussion can be addressed through policy changes.

 

University Land Use Practices Subcommittee

This committee makes recommendations for the use, preservation and development of the university's land. In making these recommendations, members consider the recreational needs of the community, the intrinsic beauty and value of the land and the need to provide places of quiet and rest.
