The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive at St. Bonaventure University later this month. The drive will take place in the Shay-Loughlen residence hall Nov. 27 and 28 from 12 to 7 p.m.
This year, the Red Cross will be giving away free T-shirts to donors and there will be a raffle for two pairs of tickets for the Dec. 9 Rams at Bills game; one winner will be chosen per day.
Hurricane Sandy affected blood collecting throughout the Northeast. It is important that people come and donate. Although there is a good supply of blood now, supplies typically decrease around the holidays, Red Cross officials say.
“Generally, we see a decrease in the amount of donors after the Thanksgiving holiday, but we are expecting a good turnout this year,” said Melissa Riehle, account manager of Blood Services.
Those who plan to donate must have a picture I.D.; donors also must be cold-free and have not gotten a tattoo in the past year.
