The Humanities challenge us to ask fundamental questions concerning purpose, meaning and truth.The Humanities at St. Bonaventure University includes the departments of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures, English Language and Literature, History, Philosophy and Theology.


These departments offer major programs of study in Greek, Latin, Classical Languages, French, Spanish, Modern Languages, Creative Writing, American Literature, British Literature, History, International Relations, Philosophy, Philosophy and Law, Philosophy and Business, and Theology.


In addition to these areas, a student can minor in Arabic and Islamic Studies, study German and Italian to the intermediate level, and study Arabic to the senior level.


The Humanities is a group of academic disciplines that concern themselves with human experience. They challenge us to reflect upon our lives and ask fundamental questions concerning purpose, meaning and truth.


They help us look critically and imaginatively at our world as it is today, and apply the lessons of the past as we work towards a better future.
